The first step is to identify the things that trigger you. Is it stress? There are many other things that may lead to emotional eating, such as boredom, social influences, feelings of emptiness and loneliness, stuffing yourself to pacify emotions, etc. So identify what it is that makes you eat excessively. Now comes the second step. When you know what it is that makes you eat, try to find alternatives to eating. If you eat when you’re alone, go and hang out with a friend, or talk to one on the phone.
